
Getting started:
The first thing you do is update your existing system with the latest updates and patches. To do that, press Alt-F2 on your keyboard, then type the commands below:
update-manager

Next, click the ‘Check’ button to check for any pending updates. After that, click ‘Install Updates’ and begin updating your system.

After updating your system, click Restart Now if prompted to do so.

After restarting, press Alt-F2 on your keyboard, then type the commands below and click Run:
update-manager

If, at this point, haven’t seen the ‘Upgrade’ button as shown below, then click Settings

Next, make sure that ‘Release upgrade’ is set to ‘Normal releases’

Now click Check and look again, you should now see the ‘Upgrade’ button. Click Upgrade to begin the upgrade.

Read the upgrade notes, then click Upgrade

Support for some applications are ending. Take note and click Close.

Click ‘Start Upgrade’ to start the upgrade process

When prompted here, click Remove to remove obsolete packages.

Restart your computer to complete the upgrade.

After restarting, press Alt-F2, then type the commands below and click Run:
update-manager

First, click Check to look for pending updates and install before you click ‘Upgrade’. After installing all pending updates, then you can the click ‘Upgrade’ button.

Click Upgrade

Remove obsolete packages, then click Start Upgrade to start the process.

Wait for all packages to be downloaded and installed.

Click Remove to remove obsolete packages

Click Restart to complete the upgrade
